The secretariat of DCG at the Environmental House
DCG's secretariat is located at the Miljøhuset G9 (the Environmental House) in the center of Oslo and is connected to the Development Fund. The secretariat provides feedback to DCG's board and works according to its mandate and the annual activity plan formulated by the members of DCG. DCG's secretariat further plays the role of a catalyst in order to ensure the management of the network, the dissemination of the information and the synergy between the different members and partners of DCG.
The national DCGs
There are national DCGs in Eritrea, Ethiopia, Mali, and Soudan. Their main responsibilities, apart from the implementation of DCG's activities according to the annual activity plan in collaboration with DCG Norway, are to jointly develop new proposals for activities that would contribute to the realization of DCG's objectives. This includes the assignment of competent consultants to implement applied studies, organize and facilitate DCG workshops and seminars, and finally to engage themselves in network management and lobby at the national and international levels for issues linked to DCG's thematic focuses. The relationship between the different bodies of DCG is presented in the organigramme.
Noragric
DCG has a collaborative agreement with the Department for International Environment and Development Studies (Noragric) at the University of Life Sciences (UMB) whereby Noragric plays a supporting role by providing strategic advice to DCG and general backstopping for DCG's regular activities. DCG uses Noragric's scientific expertise as an input to its work especially in DCG's working areas, food security and natural resource management in dryland areas including issues related to the implementation of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD).
