The Drylands Coordination Group (DCG) is a network for capacity building through exchange of practical experience and appropriate knowledge on food security in the drylands of Africa. The DCG networks in Eritrea, Ethiopia, Mali, and Sudan consist of NGOs as well as research institutions and governmental structures. DCG Norway administers funds from Norad to research projects and from the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to information and policy work linked to the UNCCD and dryland challenges.

Study on camel diseases in Ethiopia
DCG Ethiopia has finalized a research project on camel diseases. The Borana and Guji pastoralists, who have traditionally been based on cattle husbandry for milk production and wealth storage, have recently developed considerable interest in camel production. Read more »

DCG Fact sheet on Pastoralism and the UNCCD
This fact sheet is based on DCG report No. 43 which has the same title, and is written in collaboration with FIAN (FoodFirst Information and Action Network) by Veslemøy Ask. It highlights the main findings of this report in terms of the UNCCD and pastoralism, human rights instruments, and the right to food. Dialogue has reduced conflicts
The objective of the DCG project in Mali is to contribute to ensuring improved food security for mobile pastoral households as well as sedentary farmers through the reduction of pressure on natural resources and related conflicts. The focus on dialogue has led to a reduced conflict level between farmers and pastoralists. Read more »

Adapting to climate changes in the drylands
Through a DCG project, Norwegian Church Aid Ethiopia has obtained information about consequences of climate changes for people in their program areas and their subsequent coping mechanisms. These findings have been used when developing NCAs new 5 years strategy. Read more »
