A training workshop for members of the board of DCG Mali took place on February 8 in the AMAPROS’ office.
This workshop discussed DCG's plan for monitoring and evaluation and presented an original tool for monitoring and evaluation called “Most Significant Change” (MSC). This M&E method consists in collecting stories that tell the most significant change that individuals or organizations experienced over a certain time period. This method thus allows to measure the impacts of a project or program especially on a qualitative level and allows as well to measure unexpected results. The MSC guide can be downloaded from the following website: http://www.mande.co.uk/docs/MSCGuide.htm
The training workshop was facilitated by two representatives from DCG Norway and the DCG secretariat. Participants reacted very positively to the new tool presented and have already planned the work ahead. This includes among other things training the rest of the DCG members in Mali. A mini MSC trial was also carried out in the field on the site of a DCG Ecofarm project and provided promising results. These types of workshops are also planned to be held in the coming months for the other DCG groups in Eritrea, Ethiopia and Sudan.
