DCG Eritrea in collaboration with the Association of Eritreans in Agricultural Sciences planned to organize a workshop from May 11-12th in Keren, Eritrea. The workshop has unfortunately been postponed.
This workshop will focus on promoting the up-scaling and uptake of knowledge to contribute to improved food security in Eritrea. This workshop is based on the idea that a wealth of knowledge exists on agricultural and natural resource management within the farming and pastoral communities and professionals of the field, but that a gap exists in generating, sharing and using this knowledge.
The objective of this workshop is thus to provide a forum for the initiation of practical action on the ground, and also whereby, different stakeholders will assess the results of previous experiences and come up with practical recommendations for the future. The scope of the workshop is to bring together all key stakeholders (lands users, outreach, research, and policy) to come up with a common understanding of the core issue at large. In terms of methodology, the workshop shall focus less on presentations, and more on the dialogue process. Participatory workshop approaches will be adopted and experiences from the international and regional levels will be sought for sharing.
A member of the secretariat in Norway as well as a colleague from Noragric will be attending and helping with the facilitation of this workshop.
