This workshop organized by SECO/ONG (member of DCG Mali) from October 31st to November 2nd in Bamako, Mali aimed at building the capacity of members of DCG Mali in order to influence policies, programs, and strategies linked to issues of food security. The workshop had the following objectives:

  • Enable the representatives of NGOs members of DCG Mali to better understand the policies, programs and strategies linked to food security in Mali in order for them to understand the issues that can be involved in lobbying and advocacy work;
  • Build the capacities of these representatives in terms of elaborating and carrying out lobbying and advocacy activities in the field of food security;
  • Enable the trained representatives of the member NGOs to constitute a support group capable of influencing the policies, programs and strategies linked to food security in Mali;
  • Enable the trained representatives of member NGOs to suggest in their intervention areas relevant lobbying and advocacy actions in terms of food security.

The workshop was an ideal arena to exchange between the DCG Mali members on lobbying issues in terms of food security. The workshop included simulation exercises on the way to present an advocacy message and was participatory in the sense that the experiences of the various participants were fully valued.
