The European networking initiative on Desertification (eniD) held its annual meeting in Paris from March 17th to 18th. A representative of DCG Norway attended this meeting.

Members of eniD discussed the following issues:

• Follow-up of decisions of COP8
• eniD focus in 2008
• eniD structure and way forward
• Preparation of the position of European CSOs with regard to the UNCCD and its new Executive Secretary
• 16th sessions of the Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD 16)
• CRIC 7

One of the major issues that was discussed was eniD's participation at CSD 16 in May. EniD decided in this regard to organize a side-event on the value of drylands for its inhabitants.
