ELMT/RELPA and CARE International are organizing a 3-day symposium to be held 21 - 23 October 2009 in at Kenya Commercial Bank Training Centre, Karen. The theme of the symposium is Livestock Marketing for the Horn of Africa.

The symposium will bring together government representatives, private sector players, research and academia institutions, pastoral communities, non-governmental organizations and the donor community and showcase different emerging models in livestock marketing that have a marked or potential impact on pastoral livelihoods.

The symposium aims to review past and current livestock marketing experiences in the Mandera Triangle countries and elsewhere to identify best practices and share lessons learnt in the sector.

The achievements and challenges presented by the participants will be used as the basis for identifying good practices and obstacles to livestock marketing at the community, institutional and policy levels.
