Diagnostic Report and Action Plan for 2005. (In French). DCG Report 37
Size: 593 kb

 Bocary Kaya, Cheik O. Traoré, and Jens B. Aune

The global objective aimed by the Ecofarm project is to develop a sustainable agricultural system in pilot villages and to transfer this approach to other villages and regions in Mali.

The specific objective of the project for 2005 is to develop farm prototypes in the different ecological zones of Mali. These farm prototypes comprising agricultural activities, husbandry, and forestry will be based on soil fertility management, agroforestry, and husbandry in order to increase farmers’ income while integrating local people’s knowledge and scientific knowledge. These farms will contribute to:

  1. Increase food security including the quality of nutrition;
  2. Increase farmers’ income;
  3. Increase biodiversity;
  4. Regenerate degraded land.

The following document is the synthesis report arising from the first fieldworks of the first exploratory phase of this study.
