A workshop was organized by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on November 1st in Norad's offices on 'Women's role in humanitarian catastrophes and the challenges for Norwegian policies'.
DCG was invited to make a presentation at this workshop under the section focusing on long-term crises. DCG Norway made a presentation on women in drylands and their challenges and supported its presentation with examples from DCG's work in Ethiopia and Mali.
The first example focused on the DCG report on Female Headed Households and emphasized the need to create programs specifically targeting women and not just including them. The second example focused on the Ecofarm project taking place in Mali and the lesson learned in that project that specific training sessions need to be designed for women.
Here is a copy of the presentation made by DCG Norway at this workshop. A report from this workshop will also be written by MFA and posted on this website.
