The UN OCHA pastoralist communication initiative
The UN OCHA Pastoralist Communication Initiative is an Ethiopia-based programme that works with pastoralists across the Horn of Africa. This initiative helps to connect pastoralists in the Horn with pastoralists all over the world. They also promote contact between pastoralists, governments and others. This website provides information on the initiative and relevant information. This site is still under development.

The World Initiative for Sustainable Pastoralism
The World Initiative for Sustainable Pastoralism (WISP) is a global initiative that supports the empowerment of pastoralists to sustainably manage drylands resources. WISP enables pastoralists to demonstrate that their land use and production system is an effective and efficient way of harnessing the natural resources of the world’s drylands. WISP is a GEF-funded project of three to four years, implemented by UNDP and executed by IUCN. This website provides information on the initiative, on pastoralism, drylands, WISP activities, their partners, information briefs, and events. There will soon be pages dedicated to publications and resources.

Pastoral and Environmental Network in the Horn of Africa (PENHA)
PENHA is an international NGO working mostly in the Horn of Africa. It has a network in Eritrea, Ethiopia, Sudan, Uganda and Somaliland among others. This NGO is comprised of professionals and development workers who work on issues of pastoralism from a regional perspective. Their website also contains information about relevant publications.

Indigenous Peoples of Africa Coordinating Committee (IPACC)
IPACC is a network of indigenous people's organizations in Africa. Their goal is to strengthen the participation of African indigenous peoples in the UN and other international arenas of policy making notably dealing with human rights and the environment.
