Stockholm Environment Institute
The Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) is an independent, international research institute specializing in sustainable development and environment issues. It works at local, national, regional and global policy levels. The Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR)
The Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research seeks to achieve sustainable food security and reduce poverty in developing countries through research in several fields. CGIAR hosts numerous research centres working in specific areas such as the drylands.

Poverty and Conservation . info
The Poverty and Conservation Learning Group (PCLG) is a forum for facilitating mutual learning between key stakeholders, from a range of backgrounds, on conservation-poverty linkages. This website contains 4 key searchable databases: a bibliographic database with literature on conservation-poverty linkages, an organisations database highlighting the range of organisations working on conservation-poverty linkages, an initiatives database describing significant international initiatives designed to explore the links between conservation and poverty reduction, and a case studies database capturing practical, on-the-ground experience in linking conservation and poverty reduction and documenting the strategies employed in making these linkages. The Poverty and Conservation Learning Group is coordinated by the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED).

DesertNet, a network of German scientist and experts, was founded to form a binding link between different scientists who aim to investigate the complex causes and effects of desertification in interdisciplinary research approaches. It also wants to involve policy makers and public institutions, as well as to link national expertise with international research. This network is now intending to become European. CIRAD is a French agricultural research centre working for international development with a special focus on sustainable development. Most of its research is conducted in partnership. CIRAD also provides training, and scientific and technical information. Countries in which CIRAD works include Ethiopia and Mali among others.
