The United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD)
This is the official website of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification. It provides information on past meetings and conferences as well as coming conferences such as CRIC3 and COP7. This site also informs the public about action programs, the Committee on Science and Technology, the role of civil society and other elements of the CCD.

The Global Mechanism of the UNCCD
The Global Mechanism was established under the UNCCD. The GM is a network hub which mobilizes and channelizes financial resources for the implementation of the Convention. The International Fund for Agricultural Development (UFAD) houses the GM.

2006 - International Year of Deserts and Desertification
2006 was declared by the United Nations the "International Year of Deserts and Desertification" (IYDD). The official website of the IYDD provides you with the agenda of events organized for this celebration, background information on IYDD, information on partners, etc.

The Global Environment Facility (GEF)
GEF is the financial mechanism of the UNCCD. One of its focal areas is land degradation with a focus on three production systems: agriculture, rangeland, and forest. This link brings you directly to GEF's land degradation program.

Land Degradation Assessment in Drylands (LADA)
LADA is a United Nations initiative executed by FAO. Its objective is to assess degradation in dryland areas in order to improve decision making at different levels. LADA especially supports the needs of stakeholders involved in the implementation of the UNCCD.
